Today, I spent less than 30 minutes & under $5 to create this dish for dinner. Sometimes, it’s a challenge to satisfy the pallets of all my family members but this dish turned out to be a winner. It’s a good sign when my wife Kayal asks me to write down the recipe for future use and hence this post.
- Cooking technique: Stir fry
- Level of difficulty : Easy
- Serves : 2-3 people
INGREDIENTS:
- 200 gms of chowmein noodles
- Black bean paste
- Garlic powder
- One carrot
- One celery stick
- 100 gms shredded cabbage
- one Thai chilly
- Two eggs
- one cup stock
- Handful of bok choy
- One small onion
- 2 spring onions
- Cooking Oil
- sesame oil (garnish)
- salt & pepper
PROCEDURE:
- In a hot pan, add cooking oil followed by all the chopped vegetables. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Add a tsp of garlic powder and saute for a minute
- Add 2 tbsp of black bean paste, mix well and add the chowmein noodles.
- Stir fry for a minute, add the stock, salt and cook covered under medium heat for another 5 minutes.
- Cooking time will vary depending on the type of chowmein and your preference for the noodle doneness.
- Remove the pan from the range, drizzle some sesame oil, garnish with chopped green onion, cracked black pepper, and egg omlette cut into thin strips.
- Serve immediately.
